Triad Cornea Community is the exclusive provider of cornea tissue for vision insurance plans administered by Avesis, a Guardian company.
This vision plan, with a cornea rider, is the only one of its kind that provides reimbursement for corneal tissue processing fees. This feature is unique in the vision insurance industry.

WHO WE ARE
We are the exclusive provider of cornea tissue for the Vision Insurance Plan administered by Avesis. This vision plan with a cornea rider is the only one of its kind providing cornea tissue reimbursement to eye banks.
We are a distribution and reimbursement network comprised of nonprofit, EBAA accredited, and FDA registered eye banks.
WHAT WE DO
We connect eye banks with surgeons and patients to provide reimbursement for corneal tissue processing fees.
We provide healthcare professionals with a convenient, straightforward database, called Triad Electronic Distribution System (TEDS®), to request corneas for transplant.
We streamline the ordering, invoicing and reimbursement process by working directly with Avesis for reimbursement.
We eliminate the need for eye banks to invoice the surgeon for the cornea tissue processing fee.
Triad Electronic DISTRIBUTION System (TEDs®)
A proprietary distribution system that streamlines the ordering, invoicing, and reimbursement process for cornea tissue.

PATIENTS
Starting in February 2020, patients can enroll in the Avesis supplemental vision plan that features a cornea rider.

The cornea rider is an additional benefit to patients that provides coverage for the cornea for transplant.

The patient is seen by their ophthalmologist of choice who will verify the insurance plan.

The processing fee for the cornea is covered by the vision insurance plan, at no cost to the patient.
NOTE: Patients without the vision benefit/cornea rider should check with their current medical insurance for coverage.
PHYSICIANS
Patients enrolled in the supplemental vision plan featuring the cornea rider will receive full coverage for the processing fee of the cornea.

The cornea is requested through Triad Cornea Community and TEDS®.

Provides invoicing and reimbursement for the corneal tissue processing fees that will be transacted among Triad Cornea Community, the eye bank and the insurance provider.

The surgical facility will not receive an invoice for the cornea from the eye bank.

The surgical facility will not submit a claim for the cornea to the patient’s medical insurance.
NOTE: All other expenses for the corneal transplant will be billed under the patient’s medical insurance.
